Good afternoon.
They stopped the Propofol sedation this morning.
The respirator is down to a minimal support level. I believe they said it's no more than a CPAP machine at this point.
Kiara is not fully awake, but she is responding to questions/conversation and has enough mental acuity to finger-spell that she's nauseous. Those meds are on the way.
They have not done the tube change yet.
Around 11 this morning, I was invited to "round" with the ICU medical team as they discussed Kiara's case. I had to offer only a couple of comments since the ENT team hadn't discussed anything with the ICU team. Luckily(?) after being through this a few times, I can talk the talk.
So, the word once again is "stable".
On the home front - Karina made it safely to Corvallis and is lugging her stuff up three flights of stairs to her dorm room. Karissa should be getting off the school bus right now and is singing at Erev Rosh Hashanah services tonight. Mary was pitting and freezing a bag of plums from Angie's yard. And it's raining in Portland.
We are blessed that so many are rearranging their lives for us. We love you all.
More later.
