Good evening, all. It's been somewhat long day, so this will be a brief update.
The tube change previously advertised for today is happening tomorrow morning. The ENT team was ready to go this afternoon, but we waved them off. Kiara and I needed one more conversation with Dr. A and a risk/benefit analysis before giving the green light.
Kiara is very weak and tired. The big bleed on Monday took a lot out of her (no pun intended) and two days of heavy sedation knocked her down further. Needless to say, things are still somewhat tenuous.
The objectives at this point are 1) a safe and successful trach change, and 2) building up her strength, energy, and stamina.
I'll update again tomorrow after the tube change.
Many thanks to the Moms keeping Karina and Karissa sane through all of this. Much love to those sending their energy through the cosmos to Kiara. Shanah Tovah to those observing Rosh Hashanah. Go Dodgers to those celebrating the NL West title.
