While Kiara was Sleeping

Good evening.  It's Kelly.

Yes, here are some addenda/clarifications to Kiara's last post.

Kiara's list of stuff we brought with us was shy on electronics.  Along with the medical equipment and analog distractions, we also brought a laptop computer, a Dynavox tablet, and two (2) smart phones (along with all of the charging cords and adapters to keep them running).  Hopefully the cancer center doesn't add electricity charges to the bill.

Yes, my workplace has been tremendously helpful and supportive through all of this.  But, while I believe Holly has the highest respect and appreciation for my office plants, CJ has actually been the "plant daddy" while I've been out.  Thank you, Sir.  Have a Dr. Pepper on me.

No, visitors do not get to sit in the recliners.

Here's the timeline of yesterday's treatment:

9:30 - 1/2 liter of water with potassium and magnesium added.  It's like IV Gatorade.
10:50 - Benadryl - This is to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction to the medications
11:15 - Steroids - Anti-inflammatory
11:35 - Famotidine (Pepcid) - Anti-nausea medication
11:55 - Emend - Anti-nausea medication
12:25 - Lorazepam - Anti-nausea and sedative

OK.  Those are the pre-meds.  Now we're ready to start some chemotherapy.

12:25 - Chemo Drug #1
1:40 - Chemo Drug #2
2:55 - Another 1/2 liter of water with potassium and magnesium
3:55 - 1 liter of plain saline
5:20 - Hook up the pump with Chemo Drug #3 - This will slowly drip in the medication until Wednesday afternoon.

And now, back to your regularly-scheduled program.

-Kelly
