As I was hitting the "Publish" button, Dr. A came in to speak with me.
Everything is done and Kiara is in Recovery. The procedure was more challenging than originally anticipated due to the shifted anatomy in Kiara's neck and the level of muscle tension around the airway.
She'll be in Recovery for a while. The hospital is pretty full right now. If they can find her a bed on one of the trach-friendly floors, they'll transfer her to a room. If not, she'll be spending the night in the ICU.
Not much else to report. Here's hoping for a good night's sleep for her (and me). Will post more in the morning.
