Remember all those dates I gave you? Forget them. Dr. F's office called today. Mapping went much more smoothly than expected, so radiation day 0 will be Thursday and the real thing starts Friday. Actually kind of nice to get a day off after the first dose. Chemo will start later than expected because we don't even meet with the chemo oncologist until Monday. Fine with me.
Because we don't already have enough chaos with all of this, the ballet teacher caught me today and said they want Karissa to move up a class. Great. Can she come tomorrow at four? Not great. The next level up conflicts with Talmud Torah on Wednesdays. No idea how this will play out in the long run. Sent the ballet teacher an email tonight explaining the situation more fully than I could on a scrap of paper. Sometimes not being able to speak clearly is a pain.
Dr. A thought oxygen was a good idea and would like to avoid the trach if we can. Me too. He asked his assistant to order it. I was really hoping it would be here today because the all night no sleep no oxygen is a drag. Unfortunately no. Today I couldn't make it through massage therapy on my back. Thank goodness Mia, and co. are flexible. Even sitting up, she can close off my breathing just working scar tissue. With it already this tight it may not be pretty after thirty more radiation treatments.
No sleep. Breathing is labored in the evenings/night. I watched half of a very strange movie this morning while I had breakfast/walked on the treadmill (not at the same time...). I had to find it on the IMDB by a character's name since I had no idea what it was. "Pumpkin" starring Christina Ricci. Of course I saw the middle half, so I'd love to see the beginning and end. According to IMDB it grossed about $35, so finding it might not be easy.
Meal delivery continues. Joy has generously agreed to continue to coordinate this, so if you want to get in on the act, send me a message and I'll get you her email.
In addition to all of Karissa regular activities, and my massage/acupuncture/physical therapy/speech, this week I also have an appointment with the herbalist, a baby shower to attend, Karina has two medical tests on Friday, and Karissa has the third grade musical on Thursday night and is singing in the choir at the synagogue on Friday night. Oh, and I have to renew my driver's license before my birthday. I better do that before I have any more swelling from the radiation, or any other side effects. Just a regular restful week at the Wolf Household.
Lots of exercises and meditation I had planned to be focusing on before this all started next week. Well, we'll be in the routine by spring break, that's for sure. It is going to go fine. I am going to "eat" as much healthy food as I can to help my body heal. I have a positive mental attitude. I have the adoration of my husband. I have my wonderful children and my amazing friends. It is going to succeed!
As for a theme song, Rocky keeps popping up in my mind. That seems inappropriate because I've never even seen Rocky. Yes, that is true. Maybe the theme from "Pumpkin?"
Until tomorrow...
