The cold front is here and they are predicting snow for tonight. Barbara sneaked away in the nick of time-- I'm guessing single digits did not appeal to her. We snuggled in with a fire and watched the Sound of Music. She's no Julie Andrews, but it was family approved. We don't have school tomorrow due to staff development, but I doubt they will be developing much if the snow is a reality in the morning.
Upon reading my last post, I realized it made it sound like we don't have any help here. Nothing could be further from the truth. We not only have so many wonderful people helping us, we have people still asking how they can help. Our cup runneth over, so to speak. I still don't have a lot of stamina, but I am able to cook and so some cleaning. My neck is still not very cooperative about bending, so some tasks are still challenging. As I've said before, I welcome the help, but it is unlikely I will ask for it.
A few people have suggested an apron, a smock, or a drop cloth to deal with the food spray. An apron would actually work very well except it would need a modification. My feeding tube comes out just below my sternum and it is about a foot long. There would have to be an opening right in the middle of the apron to pull the feeding tube through.
"Eating" is getting more comfortable. I'm still trying to figure out how to get more calories in less volume. I've been bringing my syringe and bowl to the table at meal times rather than hiding in the kitchen. It seems to be getting less awkward, at least for me. Of course food spray is never a good thing, but it does liven up the meal. The desire to chew food does get overwhelming at times. There was an ad for Burger King on Scrabble today. My mouth just started watering even though the food didn't even look that good. Just the thought of taking a bite of something, anything, sounded so good. I had a pacifier until I was three and then started biting my nails right after that, so I am an oral person by nature. Perhaps, if nothing else, I may be able to chew and spit out at some point when my jaws open wide enough to allow that.
Barbara checked a couple of projects off my list while she was here. I am nearing the final stages on another. Amazing what you can finish when you actually sit still long enough to do so. There are so many things I want to try! Movies to see! Games to play! How will there ever be enough time?
The anticipation of snow will have Karissa out of bed early despite going to bed so very late. Kelly will be up and out early to get to work, either on the bus or in the truck, which has four wheel drive. That means I'll be up early as well. That means I should say goodnight.
Your assignment is to come up with a good nick name for Kelly. Since I cannot say K or L, his name is impossible for me. He is lobbying for "Big Stud."

When Kelly was a little boy, I called him Kelly-boo. Just shorten it to Boo.
Cold here too - had to defrost my
windshield this morning. Threat of snow on the way.
Stay warm - love to all from Uncle Stanley.
Love & hugs
xoxoxoxo
Bob says "Wolff" for Kelly
I will try an apron idea and send it up to you, then you critique and let me know what changes I need to make.
P.S. Yup, I snuck out of town to avoid the single digits, but I am sorry I missed the snow and it goes with out saying, I miss you.
Regarding the name the term "son of a bitch" comes out pretty clear. :)
