Ramen, washing machines, and darkened rooms

So my last post was pretty grim. I wish I was now going to tell you all better. Unfortunately, tolerable would be a better description than all better. I don't know that the pain killer is doing anything other than taking up space on my shoulder blade, but we'll see. My new quest is lidocaine throat spray. I know it exists, I just need to get some.

I spent the morning at the cardiologist. Everyone should start their day out in a darkened room while a handsome young man rubs warmed gel all over their chest. Well, maybe everyone wouldn't enjoy that...

I could do with the new trap door they have put in the echocardiogram tables. It is to cope with those pesky breasts that get in the way. They drop the trap door and, voila! breast out of the way. Hanging down off the side of the table in an uncomfortable and unattractive way, but out of the way nonetheless. I thought they were kidding the first time.

Echo was good. Dr. Ashley was good. I don't know the results of the 12 lead EKG I had. BP 102 over 58, HR 98. Hanging in there. Weight-- down 15 pounds or more.

Yesterday we went to buy a new washing machine. Ours is seriously on its last legs and randomly floods the laundry room. With the rebate, electric co. rebate and the tax incentive, it is a good deal. The kind salesman told us the one we want will be more on sale today than it was yesterday, so we'll be making a return trip tonight. Another opportunity to look at cooktops. Maybe next year.

I've resorted to eating ramen. It is salty and soft and full of fat. I lived on it in college, which explains a lot of things. Karina was horrified, but I can't get enough of it down at a time for the sodium to hurt me. I'm excited to break 500 calories most days. Today it is Oriental Flavor. At 27 cents a package, I don't even feel bad when I throw the extras away.

Hopefully this was more upbeat. I think I've decided no feeding tube simply because by the time it is in, my treatments would be over. Not that the pain will dissipate immediately, but I'm coping better. We'll see on Tuesday if they decide to double the patch or just give me relief for my throat, which is what I really need.

What is new in your world?

Brett Farve is going to be a Jet. If Kelly were here he'd be singing music from West Side Story...

Love,
Kiara

MMMM, ramen noodles. My hubby refuses to even keep them in the house, he hates them that much. Hey, if they help with getting the calories you need, then they're perfect. Growing up, we used to take the water out after cooking, then smother them in butter and 1/2 the flavor packet. Don't know if that would make it more exciting or whatever, but I do know butter has more calories than water. Probably why I always liked it better. Just wanted to say hello. Just another week of treatments, right? I'm counting down to the 16th with you! Love, Kate

B-R-E-T. Jets, Jets, Jets. Feh. Sitting here watching the Packers game. Rodgers didn't look so bad. What stinks is seeing Brett in NYJ green.

Blech.

Keep on keeping on.
