Just when you think you can't face anymore. Just when you think you have had enough, life throws you a bone.
I commented to Richie (my radiation tech) that I was halfway done today. He said, "More than that." I thought I had 17 left to go, so he pulled up my prescription. 30 treatments, not 35. We heard 7 weeks and assumed 35, but it will take me 7 weeks because I started mid-week, took a couple days off, etc.
I just got 5 days of my life back!!!!
Eating is still dicey, but I feel so much better when I do. Actually my mouth and throat feel worse when I do, but overall I feel better. Raviolis, the orange ones from a can you ate as a kid, not the good kind, taste okay. They also have a good texture which makes them tolerable. I'm stocking up.
Some kinds of sweet seem to survive somehow. I tried a propel water and it has a faint sweet aftertaste. Not too bad. It is pathetic when you are so desperate for calories you are trying to get more calories in your water. Since I'm supposed to drink at least 40 oz a day, this could be a bonanza.
Life had a few other curve balls for us, but nothing that is traumatic, although it is somewhat life altering. I can only say that Karissa's family tree grew by one more, but no decisions had to be made by us, which is a good thing.
Speaking of Karissa, she had her first session with the speech therapist today. It went well, although Karissa was much more interested in playing with new toys instead of talking to this lady about 'amimals.'
Now she wants water in her watering can. Not such a good idea in the house. Out toid is a better place for water. We don't know when she visited the Bronx.
I hope everyone got some good news today.
Love,
Kiara
