Radiation schedule

It has been a busy, busy, busy couple of days. I have been working on the Alumni Band newsletter and a funding request. A bombshell about marching band fell on my desk, so to speak. I've been playing chauffeur for Karina everyday. And the cancer center called.

The chest x-ray- normal. Mammo- normal. Computer simulation-- good to go. I was supposed to have day 0 on Monday, but we have a dermatologist appointment we've been waiting quite awhile for, so I start Tuesday. That is just the mock up and testing. Wednesday I have my first treatment (day 1) and Thursday I have the first Ethyol shot 30 minutes before the treatment. I will be at the WVCC M-F at 11:10 everyday thereafter for my shot followed by radiation. Think of me while you are sitting in the McDonald's drive thru at noon.

The house is getting less messy, with the exception of the never ending tumbleweeds of dog hair. There are the big things that may not get done-- the finishing touches on the paint in the kitchen, cleaning out the disgusting garage. We shall see. Given the choice, I would always rather play in the dirt than scrub toilets.

Aside from our own medical drama we have been watching with apprehension the economic situation, especially in Nevada. Although we aren't there, many people we love and care about are and it is scary to watch it unfold. Will there be public outcry?

Here gas continues to increase as it does everywhere, $4.40 a gallon most recently. Food is going up, but it makes the farmer's market prices more competitive with the store, so it isn't too bad. We had almost a whole meal from the garden (except for the tortellinis).

Food is in the forefront of my brain as I fear the upcoming radiation side effects. As they will be radiating my tongue and both sides of my neck, the impact on my ability to eat will probably be profound. Is that a hint of scared? You bet. More than a hint, truth be told.

By Independence Day, I'll have some idea of how it is going to go.

Any grapes yet? Super early ones? You know I'd do just about any immoral thing for those grapes of yours.

I'm glad the exams came back normal, and I'm glad to know when your radiation begins. I'm thinking of you guys all the time.
