It was a really rough night here. It is times like that it would be nice to be able to take some actual pain meds and just go away for awhile. Today has been much better. I got sponged off and my hair washed with the microwave shower cap. The speech therapist was in this morning teaching me to eat pudding. I've never been so afraid of jello in my life. It is pretty difficult to eat, but it is getting better. I have a little better insight into Karissa-- you can get sick of pudding and ice cream. The drain is still in. They are still saying discharge tomorrow. However, the staples stay in until next week sometime. Yum. This must be a progressive hospital. I got hospital issue underwear and pj bottoms and they didn't say a word about the bra I smuggled in and put on (no small feat with an IV, telemetry monitor, and drain bulb). Never underestimate the potential of clean sheets and jammies to make you feel a lot better. Oh, and the night nurse is pretty cute. It is good to have something nice to look at to take your mind off the pain.
Love,
Kiara

Sorry about the pain. I REALLY would have liked to see you working your way into that bra....
When you get discharged do you head home or do you stay in the Portland area for a while longer?
The Wests
The plan is to go home and then come back whatever day next week to get the staples removed. Mary leaves Sunday morning and Kelly's mom arrives. Natalie can't drive a stick shift, so I'm not sure how all this will work out yet, but I know it will. She can cook and talk to Karissa, probably my biggest challenges at this point.
