Yesterday and Today

I was trying to come up with a witty excuse for not posting yesterday.  Or even a not witty one, like it was the Sabbath.  No.  Guess I better come clean and tell the truth.

My Aunt Flo drives a mid 70s faded maroon Buick with a dented front fender and the side mirror flapping loose.  When she screeches into the driveway, she narrowly misses both the mailbox and a fence.  Her over-sized, white vinyl, faux snakeskin handbag is filled with goodies:  special physical ailments, irrational and disproportionate emotional reactions, and the promise of extra laundry.  It is always a good time when she comes to visit.  See, the truth will set you free.

I managed to drag myself out of bet at 10:30 yesterday morning.  The extra sleep is great, but then the eating schedule is off.  Yes, my life is much like a newborn; eating, sleeping and bodily functions.   I didn't manage to get breakfast down until 12:30.  Natalie and I worked on a few crafts projects.  I swear I'll finish the afghan before another 30 years passes.  That was about the most strenuous thing I did.  Almost.

The big dress rehearsal for ballet was yesterday afternoon.  I was very worried if we would be able to get Karissa showered, ballet bunned, made up and dressed in time to leave for rehearsal some place I had never been.  The fact that I was still in my pjs was not a good sign.  When Nancy offered to pick her up and take her to rehearsal and Kelly could pick her up, it was as if the sun came out and angels were singing.  Getting ready stress is manageable when you don't have the fear of getting lost or being late stress.  And, I got to stay in my jammies.

Thanks to the great bun advice from Beth, Pat, Barbara, and Kate, as well as the hands on demo by Sheri (and her gift of the right tools), the ballet bun was perfect.  Between Karina's rejects and her own supplies, Grandma was able to get the make up on and it was perfect.  It helps that her glasses hide her eyes, so we have more leeway there than most of the girls.

I spent the remainder of the day on the couch.  I waited until everyone else besides Kelly went to bed before I had more hormone induced meltdown.  Lucky him.  I think if he had it to do over, he would have left me on the couch at midnight watching TV and not said anything at all.

The neck pain has subsided, thankfully, but the tube site is still irritated. I'll be taking Beth advice and seeing if someone can take a peek at it while we are in Portland.  I did manage to get up and dressed today and even made it to the Holiday Market.  I love that place!  I did spend probably too much time thinking about putting pad thai in the blender.  Maybe next weekend, with extra peanut sauce...

We bought another blender (between the blenders, hand mixers, and the juicer, counter space is no non-existent.)  This is the one Serafina swears by, and it is smaller than the other one, and hopefully less of a pain to clean.  I also discovered that split pea soup is one of the few foods you can add spirulina to without making the food a completely off -putting color.  If you can't really taste it and it has to be the consistency of baby food, it should at least be an attractive color.  Or not gross looking at the very least.

A couple of people have asked me, and I've wondered myself, if saliva is the start of the digestive process, should I start spitting in my food?  I've been spitting everywhere else, it would be nice for it to at least be useful.

Tonight is the big ballet recital, which is why I am doing my double post early.  She is so excited she can barely contain it.  Excited enough that I don't even have to fight with her to get in the shower.  Now that is something!  Until tomorrow...
