Sunday Sunday

Hi friends,

I'm sorry some of you have been having troubles with your comments going into cyberspace.  Know that I still appreciate the positive energy.  You can comment of facebook, email, or text me if that is easier for you. My social calendar is pretty light;)

A good night's sleep.  Yay!  I've finally found the sweet spot in my bed where I'm upright enough to breathe well/not reflux, but flat enough that my rear end quits complaining.  Apparently I don't usually spend this much time on my a.....

Rayne was here visiting from Vegas.  It was a nice visit and a wonderful distraction.  Communicating via magnadoodle requires a slightly different skill set.  It is nice because you can self edit (something I could have used years ago).  It also has to be concise, with can be good.  It is frustrating when people try to guess what you are writing and guess wrong.  Also frustrating when you get it almost all written and someone else says it instead.  Nothing insurmountable.  Just different.

Doctors are pushing more drugs and more food.  Since both come into my body via tube, like I have much control.  I had to get another IV because the antibiotics keep blowing out my veins.  Now they are running them cyclically so slowly that they are basically going 24 hours a day.  They are trying to compress more food into less time, but I swear I'll barf.  Using  a pump with not make my stomach capacity be larger.  They added in three pints of kefir a day to try to save some gut bacteria.  I had three drains pulled this morning, including the last original one from my back.  Good times.

This afternoon the nurses had some concerns about my neck wound.  Drs. were back.  The back end of a drain is trying to work its way out another part of the incision.  However, the right side of my incision is breaking down.  To make sure it heals from the inside out, they "wet packed" it with gauze.  Again I am assured that everything is fine. I asked if there was a chance I'd be home for Halloween to see Karissa trick or treat.  Drs. seemed to think a Thursday am discharge was possible.

Kelly is the master of suction.  You know you trust someone implicitly when you let them snake a tube down your only airway to clear it of secretion.  He knows how to do it all.  He knows all about the feeding tube, although I'm pretty sure I'll have the hang of that soon enough.  He can suction the trach, remove the cannula (inside part), clean it and put it back.  He is totally amazing.

Sunday night football was another nice distraction. although I'm pretty much done with hanging out.  My slippers from home, my cozy quilt from Lesley, my dear friends, my pictures, and my husband are all desperately trying to make this a home away from home.  Missing my girls, my friends, even Chicken Television.  I'm ready to be healed up at home, and start learning about my new life.  It will be different, but interesting.  Maybe we'll invent the world's healthiest food for tube feeding.  Goodness knows this isn't it...

Love to all of you!

PS-- I got another new neighbor.  Guess what?  He is a runner, too.

Fingers crossed that you will be home in time to see Karissa go trick or treating. Hopefully, you are still on track for a Thursday morning "bye-bye".

All sounds positive - including your attitude. You make it easier for those of us who are just waiting around for the next update.

I think Kelly is pretty amazing too - I would put my life in his hands. And your life is in good hands, too, with him taking care of you.

Will check in with the girls tonite.

Til later

Love & hugs

Wow, catching up on the last few days. What a roller coaster, when do you get to get OFFF this ride and go HOME? Here's to hoping it's sooner than soon.
