2:00pm Update

Everything is going well.  Kiara's vital signs are stable.  The pace is good and holding.

Dr. Wax is positioning the flap in Kiara's mouth.  They're bringing in a surgical microscope to start the micro-suturing of the blood vessels.

Next update should be around 3:30.  At that point, everything should be sewn into place and the blood supply verified via [something that sounded like "doppler"].

Thanks to everyone who's checking in on me.  I'm holding up fine.  It's a beautiful, sunny day in Portland.  Lunch was pretty good.  Surgery is going smoothly.  And, I have all of you looking out for me.  It could be a hell of a lot worse.

Our love and deepest gratitude to you all.

Kelly, thanks for posting. Our love is with all K's today. I have been tearing up reading all the posts and messages too. Last night when I asked how she was she sent me this message, "I am far more calm than I have ever been before a surgery. I feel well loved and protected." Kiara has always valued, treasured and nurtured her friends, it is her superpower. Anything that I know about being a good friend I have learned from her. The outpouring of loving care from her friends has been beautiful to witness.

Thanks for the updates Kelly, it is good hear things are going well. Karissa had a good night and woke up quite cheerfully. I'm usually the only morning person at my house--it is nice to have a kindred spirit. She and Ed had a snack after school and did some yard work and then off to the Temple. Take good care!
