Part two

I think the pictures are worth a thousand words.

Ironically, being me, the last day could not go smoothly. They held up my ethyol shots saying there was a problem with the radiation machine. Finally, about 45 minutes delayed, I had my shots.

Of course that wasn't the end of it. We waited and waited as the ethyol worked its magic on my stomach. Many many computer guys scurried about from the three radiation machines and the server and reboot, reboot, reboot. Finally, they manually loaded my radiation protocol from disk and did my last treatment. They had to cancel all other radiation for the day in all three rooms, but they did not want to make me come back on Monday. Good people.

I brought my mask home. It freaks Karina out, but I found a good place to hang it on the wall. Whenever I think I'm having a bad day, I can remember what a bad day is all about.

We see Dr. Dierks in Portland on Wednesday and I have a follow up with the nurse on Thursday. The nurse today recommended IV fluids two or three days next week. Perhaps.

Tonight I had about two tablespoons of stew, including meat and potatoes and carrots. Also most of an Ensure protein (not as many calories, but not as slimy, either) and lots of water. That gave me enough energy to go pick in the garden. It had been a week. We had a huge bowl of green beans, three cucumbers and two bowls full of tomatoes.

No one really knows how long it will be before I feel "normal." We are going on with life though, planning to go to the Grambling game and the rib cook off. Not that I'll be eating a lot of ribs, but maybe I can taste sweet corn???

I hope you like the pictures.

Love,
Kiara
