Soon, very soon

Ten down, twenty-five to go. Hopefully it will continue to go smoothly.

No rashes or reactions to the Ethyol yet, which is a good thing. It is partially protecting my salivary glands. I can't imagine how awful this would be if they were getting the full on dose. This morning my tongue felt like a piece of jerky. Kelly asked me if it was teriyaki flavor. I asked him, "How would I know? I can't taste anything." I used to eat teriyaki beef jerky and drink chocolate milk on our drives back and forth to Las Vegas in college. Maybe my taste buds aren't such a loss after all.

Tomorrow all the real craziness begins. We have nine on the Allegiant Air flight from Las Vegas. Karina has her final rehearsal with the Rabbi Thursday afternoon. A last minute appointment with the psychologist (who helps her cope with her anxiety) seemed in order as well. Most of the friends are driving and arrive on Friday, along with four more relatives who are coming into Portland instead. Just a few logistics.

I have to make a speech about Karina to Karina and the congregation on Saturday. I have no idea what to say yet. Since most of my 'public speaking' would fall in the category of stand up comedy-- there are those who call it stand up evisceration-- I guess I should focus on positive, non-embarrassing things. Not my usual territory.

I have radiation Thursday and Friday, as usual, so I will miss out on the great airport caper tomorrow. Kelly would never say that I got cancer or scheduled radiation just so I didn't have to go to the airport, but some tiny little part of him surely thinks it.

The fact that the kitchen is still a complete mess is contributing to the Adrenalin rush that will hopefully get me through the weekend of madness and propel me to the beach and the aquarium next week. There are those that say going to the beach with 16 people and staying in a beach house with 12 people is not their idea of relaxing. They don't know my friends. Wait, you are my friends...

Oh, and because Chad brought it up, no, I don't know what is up with Brett Farve. I'm a cheesehead through and through, so I'll have to cheer against him if he ends up on another team. I guess we'll just wait and see how that all plays out.

And if the University of Nevada, Reno really does eliminate the marching band to cope with the projected 14% funding cut for next year, Alumni Band will become a kind of a dead end project. I surely hope it doesn't come to that. It is kind of selfish to worry about the band when CCSD has frozen 800 open teaching positions. Come to Nevada to teach. Your classroom will lack supplies and be completely overcrowded, but at least we'll pay you well below average.

Karissa has a speech eval-- she missed by one percentile last time--so I should get going. My apologies if I don't get too many updates in over the next several days. I promise, all the madness will be recounted.

Love,
Kiara

Best of luck for the weekend! Can't wait to hear how it all turns out.

I don't always comment, but I do try to keep up with how you are doing. We cheeseheads have to stick together.

Speaking of cheeseheads. I have a new best friend at work. We just hired a woman whose family is from Green Bay and has 8 season tickets. She offered some up yesterday. :-) So, maybe I will finally get to see a game in GB this year! WOOT!
