It is another grey, rainy day in the PN. We haven't seen the sun for awhile-- peas and radishes are loving it, but everything else in the garden just looks confused.
I feel better today. I've had time to absorb the first round of information. Also, the oral surgeon and dentist repeated a lot of it yesterday afternoon, so maybe I'm becoming immune. I had my molds taken for my flouride trays. Not the most fun I ever had, but not too bad overall. They had to get the child size because all the adult sizes were too large. The somewhat strange assistant making them said, "At least no one can call you a big mouth." There is some irony for you.
No teeth are being pulled, either. Hooray!
After mulling everything over, one thing does stand out in my mind. Both the radiation oncologist and the nurse said the same thing. They are being very aggressive because they are going for a complete cure. They aren't trying to buy me five years. They aren't just trying to make me more comfortable (no kidding). So, as hideous as much of this sounds, cure sounds pretty damn good.
Great food ideas from everyone. I've been thinking of a few more myself. We used to get this amazing whole milk chocolate milk at the Wild Oats in Las Vegas. It was rich and fabulous, but you really had to ration it, or resign yourself to being taken out of your house by crane. Perhaps they are seriously underestimating my ability to eat...
I'll let you know what the medical oncologist says.
Love,
Kiara
PS-- Karissa's ears were clear, so no tubes and no ENT. Hopefully speech therapy will introduce H and S to her vocabulary.

Kiara, you're truly an inspiration. To go through all this and still be even a little positive is a huge thing! You're in my thoughts and prayers. Ross just sent this blog to me today. You and Cindy Ferrell need to get get together and compare scars!
None is Andy. Sorry, never blogged before.
That's my big brother- technologically inclined. :)
Kiara, Kelly et al.- I was stunned to read Ross' email (forwarded by Andy) this morning. I'm glad you're all handling this with humor (and freak outs) and grace.
Let us know if there's anything we can do!
