They pulled the drain and discharged me about 11:30 Friday morning. Whoo hoo! Karissa was so happy to see me. She didn't even notice my neck until this morning. Karina was also happy I was home, but despite her best efforts could not conceal the level of grossed out. The bruising is slowly spreading up and down my neck and down my chest. Really not pretty. We are getting new next door neighbors. This didn't seem like the best time to go over and introduce myself...
The challenge is eating. It is getting better, but it is still hard to get enough to eat. I lost three pounds already this week. Not that I can't afford it. I am already sick of sweet (pudding, ice cream, yougurt). Ideas? I am particularly interested in proteins that can be soft and small. As you can imagine, spicy and/or salty are pretty much right out. The mushy glop cookbook is pretty much what I need.
Not being able to talk clearly really puts a cramp in my style. The funny off the cuff comment really loses something when you have to repeat it several times. There was a stand up comic in the 80s who had cerebal palsy. I sound very much like her, if you need a reference point. This too shall pass.
What is everyone else doing? Clearly you all have lives... what's up?

Hopefully you can do radiation in Eugene. I am currently hanging out with the in-laws awaiting Roger to return from the end of the UNLV graduation ceremony. Yeah.
How about cottage cheese? Broth? Could you do eggs?
How's your speech?
I have a cousin who is an oncology nurse. Granted, pediatric oncology. But I could ask her stuff if you want a real person type opinion.
Hang in there.
Try Ensure, many flavors that can be blended with ice. Maybe that will help with nutrition part. I could always send my dad to you for a little home made soup.
So glad that your home. Sounds like this would be the ideal time for me to play Trivial Pursuit with you. I'd still lose but at least with your speech the game would take longer then 30 minutes.
My mom and dad are here for dinner. They send their love and well wishes. My dad was remembering his first meeting with you. Chicken Pox anyone. Mom suggested mashed potato and carrots, soft cheese (laughing cow)or everyone's favorite junior food. Will Karissa share?
Well, after perused the blog and the posts, I felt that I was up to date! Also puts my problems in perspective.
So glad you are home, that will probably make you feel better than any medicine.
Oh yeah, did you get the night nurse's number, you know, I'm still single, and that could be good Karma? :-)
Well, call if you need anything, let me know.
Lora
p.s. oh, how about applesauce?
