Everyday a little better

The nerves in my face are slowly waking up, so here and there it is not numb. I made it through all of yesterday without any Tylenol or anything else. Yeah, me. The drainage continues, but the fever has not returned.

I do have to say it seems counter intuitive to "massage your neck" so the blood can run out of the slit in your throat faster...

I can highly recommend the new Fruitista Freeze at Taco Bell. I am becoming a connoisseur of frozen drinks. I managed to use a straw without leakage too. It is less yucky to watch me eat, although I don't know if you'd want to sign up for the soft cheese, egg white, apple sauce, refried bean diet plan.

I received so interesting cancer information from Alexis. My guess would be my body had the cancer in check for many years, but open heart surgery and all of the other horrible stress we have had the last six months just was too much for it. The doctor also told me that HPV is strongly implicated in mouth cancer, particularly in women my age with no other risk factors. Friends, get your daughters vaccinated. To my much younger friends, get yourself vaccinated. Karina has already had all three shots.

I am sorry that the post from Kelly grossed Lora out. How much irony is there in that statement??? However, it was what I needed to hear. I do have a very positive attitude, but when your standing bruised in the shower massaging pus out of your neck, it isn't exactly an ego booster. The fact that I can't smile is bugging me for some reason. It looks like a bad Elvis wanna be sneer.

My mother-in-law is washing the 147th load of laundry. All the usual stuff produced by four people, plus lots of stuff that was drained on. Also, since I didn't sort it, I'm sure plenty of Karina's clean clothes she just threw back in the laundry hamper are being rewashed.

Oh, and one last thing. I may be, once and for all, cured of nail biting. For many days after surgery, I didn't have enough mouth control to even bite my nails subconsciously. Consciously, I couldn't imagine putting whatever might be on my hands into a mouth with a huge open wound. I would not recommend this as a cure any more than I would encourage it for weight loss, but it works. I guess that would be the silver lining.

Love,
Kiara
