And so it begins...

The radiation oncologist's office called to set up the initial appointment. I will be seeing Dr. Julie Gimmel on Wednesday, June 4th. I also see the oral surgeon here that day, as well, and the dentist two days later. Hopefully after all of that, I'll have the lowdown on everything.

The drainage appears to have finally stopped. The incision does not look nearly as neat and unobtrusive as it did before. I've been dumping on the vitamin e, and cleaning it regularly. How much cleaner can you get than two showers a day? I don't know how any infection could possibly survive this much antibiotics.

My speech is good (or so those on the phone have told me). My mouth gets tired and it becomes more slurred. Since the missing piece is towards the back of my tongue, any sounds produced there require extra effort. Much of the numbness is gone from my jaw. Now it just feels like I was smacked with a bat. I think I liked numbness better...

I am still getting tired pretty quickly, which is to be expected. As most of you know, I am not a very patient patient. There are things to do! Not that I might not be too tired to clean the house.

That's all from here for now!

Love,
Kiara

I've always felt that waiting for something is worse than the actual thing. Although, I've never waited for radiation (Baruch Hashem) :-) Good wishes coming to you from all of us here. Even though I don't post all the time, I check this at least 3 or 4 times a day. You're also more than welcome to IM me anytime. Take Care, and we'll talk to you soon.
