Kiara is settled into her room in ICU. Her blood work and kidney function all look great. She still has the ventilator tube down her throat, and consequently can't talk (Kiara's personal version of Hell). She has been spelling things into my hand ala Helen Keller.
Once they get her breathing stabilized, they will remove the tube. She will be in ICU at least overnight. They will move her down to the cardiac surgical floor tomorrow.

The breathing tube is one of the worst parts - at least it was for me, watching my mom. Kiara will look less "sick" when they take it out.

I can't imagine being awake and aware you have a tube down your throat. It sounds like she is doing so great, just what is she writing in your hand???? I thought she wouldn't be awake/aware for quite awhile. How are you doing Kelly? Are you going to be able to be there as much as you want or will they send you home? Mary
